You cannot write a press article about someone without talking or approaching to him, and know his life details, and what if that person is a poor, lives alone inside a wooden bed around him, takes it a shelter of sunny days in Mocha district.
Obadi Ali, an elderly man who has been exhausted by the miserable living conditions, today, he had to live and stay inside a little cottage that allows him to stay due to he could not able to walk except some steps moves him to the cottage then to a wheelchair standing two steps away from him.
Obadi complains of severe pain in his knees that prevents him to walk easily. When Mocha was battlefields at its strongest, the elderly man remained a witness of the Houthi oppression and their defeat as well in Mocha city.
The man started his life as a fisherman for a short time working on a small wooden boat when he was young, he earned money, he managed to buy a car to transport travelers from Mocha to Taiz.
During this period, he was not lucky enough to marry and have children who would look after him in this age,about 70, but the days passed as estimated and there was no time to get married, so he preferred to remain single and alone, except for a young man who gave him the food and money when he needed.
Obadi said " I raised the young man when he was a child", now the young man did not forget the elderly man aid when he was young.
Obadi refuses to return to his hometown in Eryan area in Ibb province . He said " it is a shame to me to return the area. Obadi left the area when he was young, it is folly to return in this status, he have nothing, he said.
Despite his nephews' visit, they urged him to return back to his family, but he refused to return and prefer to stay here away from them.
"He prefers to stay under his cottage made of boxes, woods and plastic, returnning it a house or a shelter to sleep in.
He describes his small house as a friend that it is not fed up with me. Do this small house protect you from rain? 'he laughs " Is there any rain in Mocha? Obadi is convinced of the situation he lives in, getting enough from some benefactors who buy him some food he needs.
