A Yemeni activist Yahya al-Gumai, a member of the Yemeni community in Canada, reviewed events in Yemen since the chaos of 2011, or the so-called ''Arab Spring''.

In a presentation at the University of Toronto, al-Gumai said that the chaos of the spring enabled Islamist political groups  (the Brotherhood and the Houthis) to take control of power in Yemen and enter Yemen into a quagmire of chaos and militancy.

Al-Gumai, who is also a student at the Toronto University,  pointed out the Islamist political groups terrorize citizens and impose their ideological tendencies by force.

He touched upon the violent Houthi militias' practices, underlining that the militias work to dismantle the social fabric through imposing sectarian and terrorist ideas.

Al-Gumai attacked the government failure and its institutions, its responsibility to transfer the tragedy of the Yemeni people to the world, leaving the Houthi militias to act alone in the international legal arena.
