Houthi militias arrest dozens in city, Dhamar defies Houthi recruitment campaigns

The Houthi militias have negatively faced recruitment campaigns in Dhamar province, central Yemen.

A local source told NewsYemen that Houthi leaders intensified last week holding meetings with a large number of tribal figures and social interests in the province.

The source said that numbers of tribal leaders refused to send their sons so as to fight along with the Houthi militias.

According to the source, the majority of families in Dhamar province, and a number of the districts in the province refused to send their sons to fight along with the Houthis, in particular on the West Coast and al-Dhale' fronts. 

In the same context, Um Montaser al-Dafini, a resident of Dhamar said that she had to smuggle her sons outside Dhamar for fear of forcibly recruiting by the Houthi militias. 

Human rights sources in Dhamar said that the Houthi militias arrested a number of people in Dhamar's neighborhoods under the pretext of cooperating with the Coalition.  

The arrested people who were working along with the Houthi militias, recently they abstained to mobilize after they faced threats by  The families of recruits killed and lost at Houthi military fronts.

He pointed out that her two sons are still at the secondary stage. Dhamar province is classified as the human reservoir of the Houthis because of a large number of people in the province who belong to the military, police and security services.
