Disagreements between Houthi minister and his deputy, deputy considers al-Houthi racist and corrupt

Sources close to the Houthi militias have revealed differences between the new interior minister in the Houthi government - Abdulkarim al-Houthi and his deputy Abdulhakim al-Khewani, known as al-Karrar, who was run the ministry since the formation of the Salvation Government in Sana'a.

The sources told NewsYemen that the new minister Abdulkarim al-Houthi, in a first day, he took over the post to succeed the deceased minister Abdulhakim al-Maweri. He started to deprive his deputy al-Karrar of the wide powers in a matter the deputy considered it a racist and exploitative manner as the minister is so close to the Houthi militias' leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi in exercising his influence.

Abdulkareem Al-Khewani, who was given a military rank as Major General and appointed as the Deputy Minister of Interior in the Salvation Government, he was in fact the actual minister who enjoyed all powers even during the reign of Major General Mohammed Al-Qawsi as the Minister as the ministry was part of the GPC share. The Minister al-Qawsi was severely harassed by his deputy minister, who led to the first to stay at his house and refuse to go to work.

According to the sources, Abdulkarim Houthi insisted in the first day of taking powers at the interior ministry is to prevent his deputy al-Karrar from disposing of any amounts of money as he was the responsible for disbursement under an article an operating budget of the Popular Committees.

According to officials at the Interior Ministry 40% of the budget of the ministry was at the direct order of al-Karrar. The new minister at the Houthi government issued an order to prevent the issuance of any appointments by his deputy to any official in the ministry or its branches.

The Houthi militias' minister started issued new decrees appointing some security leaders affiliated with him, and he excluded previously appointed by al-Karrar.   

The sources added that al-Karrar stayed at his house and refused to attend at the ministry. The sources said that the Houthi minister exploits his relation with Abdulmalik al-Houthi in imposing his influence and decisions without any consideration to anyone even al-Karrar refused to attend the meeting of the Cabinet without giving reasons.
