The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, is engaged in looting and extortion of the private sector in areas under its control, under various pretexts.

The Houthi militias have shut down shops in Sanaa, on charges of dealing with the new edition of the national currency.

Also dominated several commercial and investment companies, for the allegation of having opponents, and closed several large restaurants for not having parking places.

The Houthis have shut down other facilities because their owners have refused to  share ownership with Houthi leaders, and have imposed on several restaurants and bakeries in Sana'a and areas of influence to finance their fighters.

Newsyemen on YouTube publishes a Motion Graphic video that reviews what appears to be a covert Huthi war against the private sector in Sana'a, including imposing illegal financial levies and the threat of closure of health facilities for alleged inefficiency.
