According to local residents, districts leaders obliged those responsible for distributing gas to pay new levies, under the pretext of supporting what they describe as the revolution in exchange for the distribution of gas cylinders, in order to exploit the contrived crisis to embezzle new levies.

Long lines of cars and motorcycles were seen behind petrol stations in the capital, Sana'a, for petrol and diesel.

Abdullah Marsh tells Newsyemen that for nearly ten days he has been waiting in long queues for the gas cylinder in the area of   the Community College in the district of Al-Hattaresh at a price of 3500. After he was unable to get it, he was forced to buy it from the black market at a price of 9,000 riyals.
