Houthi leader Hamza al-Shaabani, commander of the Al-Samad 2 Brigade, was killed along with dozens of Houthi militiamen in clashes with government forces in the northern province of Saada.

Al-Arabiya reported that Houthi leader Hamza al-Shaabani, commander of operations of the Al-Samad 2 Brigade, was killed with dozens of militiamen during clashes with the National Army forces in al-Malahedh front in al-Dhaher district, southwest of Saada province.

A spokesman for the Fifth Military Zone said that the army forces, with the support of Arab coalition fighters, were able to lure Houthi militiamen after monitoring their movements to try to launch attacks on army positions.

He added that the army repulsed the Houthi attack, and dealt a severe blow to the militia, killing and wounding dozens, including leaders, while the rest of the elements fled leaving quantities of ammunition, weapons and communications equipment.
