Tribal sources in the capital Sanaa said that Houthi militias, the Iranian arm in Yemen, kidnapped a number of sheikhs in Amran governorate and sent them to Saada province before releasing them after half a month.

The sources revealed that a number of shaikhs from Amran governorate went to the leader of the Houthi militia and the Interior Minister in their government Abdul Karim al-Houthi for the purpose of mediating the release of some detainees, including the conference leader Khaled Abu Eide, and to provide a guarantee signed by their names after his release, and that the Interior Minister Houthi asked them to wait in the ministry building until his arrival.

It added that the sheikhs were surprised that the Houthi Interior Minister brought a transport bus and forced them to board it. They were transferred to Sa'ada governorate and undergo a doctrinal education course for fifteen days before being sent back to the capital Sana'a on the same bus that took them to Sa'ada.

The tribal sources added that after the release of the sheikhs, they met with the Interior Minister of the militias, Abdul Karim al-Houthi, and demanded the release of Abu Eideh according to the guarantee they provided, but he replied that: we sent you to a course for that matter and you still looking for him.
