Houthi militias steal free aid to the hygiene sector in Sana'a and sell it to traders

Local sources in the capital Sanaa: The latest corruption by Houthi militias is the sale of aid provided by some international organizations in the field of hygiene

The sources added that international organizations, within the framework of the support provided to face the cholera epidemic and assistance in hygiene campaigns, provided the municipal sector and the hygiene fund in the Municipality of the capital a large number of small barrels for distribution to shops, especially in some lanes and districts that have seen the spread of the cholera epidemic, to facilitate the collection of garbage by cleaners and municipalities and that barrels are distributed free of charge, pointing out that the Houthi militias forced the owners of shops and owners of vegetables and fruit stalls, chicken slaughterhouses, small groceries, and owners of ovens and bakeries to buy these barrels and  place them in front of their shops in exchange for payments ranging from 6 to 8 thousand per barrel

According to the sources, these barrels in the market do not exceed the value of two thousand to three thousand riyals, but the militias sold Houthi coerced to the owners of shops twice the price, and threatened those who refuse to buy them to report violations against them by the health offices and municipalities and fined them in return.

The sources called on the organizations that provided such assistance to investigate the corruption and thefts of the Houthi militias.
