Houthi militias prevent food and medicine from reaching those in need, and do not grant approval for life-saving assistance projects.


According to humanitarian organizations, 299 Houthis interrupted and obstructed incidents to prevent food access to needy people in June and July 2019, affecting 4.9 million people in need, they also refused to approve 11 life-saving projects for 1.4 million people with $ 32 million in funding.


The UN Panel of Experts on Monitoring Sanctions in Yemen said it had noted that the Houthis had repeatedly shown disrespect for international humanitarian law applicable to the protection of humanitarian relief and health-care personnel and health-care infrastructure.


In 2018, the Houthis continued to obstruct access to humanitarian assistance and obstruct humanitarian assistance, with the aim of manipulating the lists of beneficiaries, denying visas to humanitarian workers without any justification, and limiting humanitarian access to some areas and facilities.
