The director of the Al-Mekha Traffic Department, Captain Hashim al-Afif, on Friday complained about the lack of personnel and equipment to enable them to do their job better.

He said: The traffic department needs an additional 30 soldiers to be deployed on all streets of the city, as well as cars and motorcycles to move to the places of traffic accidents.

He appealed to the Arab Coalition forces and the director of the Al-Mekha Directorate to work to provide the traffic department with the equipment it needed.

The return of traffic officers to work contributed to reducing the percentage of traffic accidents in Al-Mekha to 50 percent, pointing to the record of 130 traffic accidents with financial losses estimated at 40 million riyals during the current year.

The traffic department said it will soon start numbering motorcycles, with customs to be coordinated to number unnumbered cars.
