A study revealed that corona viruses can survive on door handles and train railings for up to 9 days.

Unless surfaces are cleaned, the virus can remain for more than 4 times the flu’s duration, which lasts for two days.

Scientists warn that the protective equipment, worn by paramedics, must be disposed of immediately, because corona viruses can remain on them for up to two days.

The study comes amid the outbreak of a new type of Coronavirus, which controls the world, and infects more than 40 thousand people around the world and kills 910 individuals.

Scientists explained that understanding the virus and how to destroy it are "necessary" to stop and control the spread of the disease.

The study was conducted by a team of experts from the universities of Rohr-Bochum and Greifswald, Germany.

The experts extracted data from 22 studies looking at the survival rate of corona viruses, including SARS and MERS strains.

They found that corona viruses could survive on non-live surfaces, such as plastics, glass, minerals and wood, for an average of two hours to 9 days.

Like influenza, viruses prefer cold weather and can survive on non-living organisms, for up to 28 days, if the temperature is 4 degrees Celsius or less.

The study, published in the Hospital Infection magazine, found that temperatures above 30 degrees lower the virus’s survival rate.

The study also found that viruses can be easily killed with simple cleaning products - it took only a minute for an alcohol-based disinfectant to destroy the Coronavirus.

However, the extent of transmission between bodies varies depending on the virus, and is based on how long the germs remain on the surface, before someone touches them.
