Russia entered the line of recent confrontations in southern Yemen, following the military mobilization of the Muslim Brotherhood towards Aden, and the announcement of the Southern Transitional Council's self-administration in the southern provinces.



In this context, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Special Envoy of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed with the President of the Southern Transitional Council in Yemen, Aidros Al-Zubaidi, the situation in southern Yemen, against the background of the Council's declaration of self-management.


 The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "it was emphasized that the measures taken by local authorities should address as effectively as possible, the problems of the local population resulting from the recent unprecedented floods and the threats posed by the emerging infection of the Corunavirus in the region."



The statement indicated that during the conversation, Al-Zubaidi presented his estimates of the military, political and humanitarian developments in southern Yemen, including the reasons for announcing the establishment of self-management institutions in the southern Yemeni governorates, including Aden.




 Meanwhile, the chairman of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, said that the declaration of self-administration in the governorates of the south, including the capital, Aden, was part of measures aimed at solving the problems of people caused by the recent unprecedented floods and facing the threat of the spread of Coronavirus infection, according to a statement published by the council on its official site
