Aden, Newsyemen:

The UN Security Council urged the Houthi militia to adopt a similar ceasefire with the Arab coalition forces.

Members of the UN Security Council heard a briefing from Special Envoy Martin Griffiths and Acting Assistant Secretary-General Ramesh Rajasingham on the terrible political and humanitarian situation in Yemen due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The members of the Security Council renewed their support for the call of the United Nations Secretary-General for a ceasefire in Yemen, welcoming the ceasefire by the "Arab Coalition in Yemen".

They expressed concern about hostilities between the Yemeni government and the Houthis. They stressed their firm support to the Special Envoy and his efforts to reach agreement on a national ceasefire, humanitarian and economic measures, and the resumption of a comprehensive political process.

They also expressed concern over the slow pace of negotiations on these proposals, calling on the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council to ease military tensions and engage under the Riyadh agreement, expressing their appreciation for Saudi mediation.

The Security Council called on the Southern Transitional Council to change any measures that challenge the legitimacy, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Yemen, including transferring the destination of revenue.

Amid the increasing number of Corona virus cases, members of the Security Council reaffirmed that full access must be guaranteed to workers in the field of international aid, medicine, and medical supplies into Yemen and its beneficiaries.
