13 high-ranking officers were killed ... mysterious liquidations in the Army legitimacy in Marib
English - Thursday 11 June 2020 الساعة 10:47 amA military source revealed that more than 13 officers in the army, including 6 colonels, were killed as a result of targeting - in separate operations - by explosive devices near a police station in the Seventh Military Region west of Marib.
The source said that, during the past few months, unknown persons had planted explosive devices on the main road in the Al-Kasara area of Nahm and detonated them remotely as vehicles transporting army officers passed by.
The city of Marib witnessed, on Monday, the funeral of 9 martyrs of the 81st Infantry brigade, who are currently stationed in Najd Al-Ataq, who were killed in one of those devices.
All of them were killed, on Wednesday, 3 June, when the explosive device went off with a military crew, in broad daylight, near the point which is only several kilometers from the city of Marib.
The explosion resulted in the martyrdom of 9 soldiers, headed by Brigadier General Abdullah Ahmad Al-Abdi, Deputy Operations of the 81st Infantry Brigade, and Colonel Ali Omar Murad, Commander of the 2nd Battalion.
After 48 hours of this operation, the same area witnessed the martyrdom of the head of the Military Security Division in the seventh military zone, Colonel Arafat Yahya Muflih al-Sabri, on his way to investigate and inspect the location of the martyrdom of the nine soldiers.
The martyr Arafat was also in charge of investigating similar incidents in the same area.
A number of army officers, including Colonel Walidy, last week, Colonel Aiban Qasha, and Colonel al-Masqari several months ago, were targeted by them with similar explosive devices.
The source talked about the failure of the regional intelligence and the brigades intelligence brigades in Al-Fardah and its vicinity in knowing the "explosive device cell" in light of suspicious movements on the road between the Nehm front and the city of Marib, especially located near the contact lines with the Houthi militia.
