Lockdown in the industrial complex neighborhood and an increase in infected cases of corona virus in Sanaa

On Sunday, the Houthi militia imposed a lockdown on a part of the industrial complex neighborhood in the Directorate of Al-Wahdah in Sanaa, following the outbreak of the Coronavirus there.

The streets leading to the neighborhood extending from Al-Zubairi Street in the north to Al-Siteen Street in the south, parallel to Baghdad Street, have been closed and no passage of vehicles, cars and motorcycles since Sunday morning, June 14.

Shops, restaurants, mosques and government and private institutions in the neighborhood were closed.

Local sources and residents in the region say that about 10 cases of Coronavirus were discovered in the region, noting that there were 3 deaths due to symptoms of the disease, and the Houthi militia is keeping a secret about the extent of the epidemic and the number of its victims in Sana'a and the neighboring governorates.


Law No. 4 of 2009 regarding public health in Yemen punishes “Whoever deliberately conceals an infected with an infectious disease, or someone who has been exposed to an epidemic disease, or intentionally caused the transmission of infection to others, or refrains from carrying out any measure required to prevent an outbreak of infection, is considered perpetrator of an offense punishable under the provisions of this law. "
