On Sunday, 21 June 2020, a fishing boat sank on the coast of the Al-Qutaba region north of Al-Khokha, south of Al-Hodeidah, in western Yemen.

Witnesses told "Newsyemen" that the fishing boat of the fisherman Thabet Awad Battah was about to go this afternoon in the Al-Qutaba coast to the weekly fishing trip in the Yemeni regional waters.

Witnesses from the fishermen indicated that the change of wind path caused waves that caused the boat to sink.

Fishermen said about the incident of the sinking of the fisherman's boat, Battah: We were surprised by the change of the wind path, the height of the waves, and the emergence of white piles, explaining that these waves suddenly appear in the lower depth of the coast, each of us rushed to his boat, turned on the engines, and raised the boat moorings, heading towards the depth to be safe from the waves.

They added: The fisherman Thabet Battah tried to reach his boat, but the waves swallowed him and caused the engine and all the fishing equipment to be damaged and spread among the waves.

They concluded the details of the incident: We were able to retrieve the boat and pull it to land, but the loss of the fisherman, Battah, was fatal, noting that the damaged equipment exceeded two million riyals.

The fishermen demanded the management of the fish landing center affiliated with the Kawkabani Brigade and Al-Wahsh brigades that have controlled the peaches since its liberation, to serve the coast from the money that the fishermen pay as contributions that are deducted from their sales for three years.

According to their estimates, their contributions during the three years exceed two billion riyals.

They asked: "Where do the contributions go if they do not aim to improve fishing conditions and raise the level of its efficiency to increase its revenues for the fisherman and for the services of the region?"
