The Security Council urgently calls for the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement

Members of the UN Security Council condemned the drone strikes and missile attacks recently targeting Saudi Arabia, reiterating their support for the United Nations Secretary-General's call for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

In a press release, members of the Security Council stressed their firm support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths to reach an agreement on a national ceasefire, and other humanitarian and economic measures aimed at resuming a comprehensive political process in Yemen supervised by the Yemenis themselves, as indicated  In relevant United Nations resolutions, including resolution 2216 (2015), as well as the findings of the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative, its implementation mechanism and the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference.

The members of the UN Security Council expressed grave concern at the slow pace of the negotiations, calling on the parties to quickly agree to the proposals reached by the mediation parties.

Council members welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Yemen under the auspices of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, between the Legitimacy Government and the Southern Transitional Council, and the deployment of the alliance's ceasefire monitors, appreciating in this regard the efforts of the Coalition.

The members of the Security Council appealed to the parties to the conflict to implement quickly the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, calling on those parties to show goodwill for the return of peace to Yemen.

They also expressed their deep annoyance at the increased risk of an oil tanker explosion, "Saffer Oil", which could cause an environmental, economic and humanitarian catastrophe for Yemen and its neighbors, stressing They also expressed their deep annoyance at the increased danger of the explosion of the "Safer Oil" oil tanker, which could cause an environmental, economic and humanitarian catastrophe for Yemen and its neighbors, stressing the need for the Houthis to immediately allow the unconditional access of United Nations technical experts to the location of the tanker to assess its condition and make any possible urgent reforms, make recommendations for the safe extraction of oil from the tanker and ensure close cooperation with the United Nations.

The members of the Security Council expressed their deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Yemen, calling in this regard all donors to intensify efforts to save lives in Yemen.

Security Council members called on local parties to take all possible steps to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus among the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, and the importance of responding to the epidemic transparently and facilitating the work of health care professionals, especially in northern Yemen.

They demanded the immediate cessation of obstruction of humanitarian aid and its effective access, and the facilitation of safe and unimpeded access for humanitarian workers and the flow of humanitarian and medical supplies, especially in the northern regions of Yemen.

Council members also called on the Yemeni parties to engage constructively with the UN Special Envoy to implement the mutually agreed arrangements and ensure the regular flow of fuel to the port of Hodeidah and verify that the revenue associated with it is used to pay the salaries of public sector employees with the provision of proof of that, asking the parties to return  To cooperate through the Redeployment Coordination Committee and work with the United Nations Mission in Support of the Hodeidah Agreement to ensure its stability.

At the conclusion of the statement, the members of the Security Council reaffirmed their strong commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Yemen.
