The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, began deducting one fifth of the production of palm plantations from dates in the Al-Madman and Al-Suwaiq areas and the outskirts of Al-Faza in the district of Al-Hudaydah in the governorate of Al-Hodeidah, west of Yemen.

Farmers in the Suwaiq and Al-Madman regions, which are famous for palm trees, said that the production of dates in this year increased by nearly 20% from last year, which made owners of those farms look up, but they were shocked, after the Houthi militia imposed one-fifth law on dates sales.

They added that the farmers stored large quantities of dates in specialized warehouses with distillation and extracting honey from them, except the Houthis took notice and asked farmers to provide statistics on the quantities of stored dates as well as expected production from the dropper, which farmers denounced and tried to explain to the Houthi supervisors that production cannot be estimated from " Al Qattara" honey of dates, which made the Houthi supervisors warn farmers against opening distillation stores without their knowledge.

It is noteworthy that the FAO statistics stated that the number of palm trees in Wadi Al-Nassiri, which crosses the Suwaiq and Al-Faza areas, is close to a million palm trees.

Farmers criticized the imposition of one fifth tax on their sales, noting that the Houthi militia had mined hundreds of farms in the al-Juraib area in al-Faza and the outskirts of the addict, and although operations in those areas had stopped, the militia still refused to remove mines from those farms.
