On Tuesday, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed the displacement of more than 17,000 Yemeni families due to the ongoing war imposed by the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, and the insecurity and spread of the Coronavirus.

The organization said in a recent report, that more than one hundred thousand people in Yemen were displaced most of them due to the fighting and insecurity, adding that the appearance of Corona came as a new cause of internal displacement throughout the country.

The report stated that since the 30th of last March to the 18th of this month, the organization recorded the displacement of more than 10 thousand people, most of whom have moved due to fears of infection with the virus and the impact of the disease outbreak on services and the worsening economic crisis.

The report indicated that between July 12 and 18, new IDP families were registered in Taiz (48 families), al-Dhali` (21 families), and al-Hudaydah (17 families), and most of these displacement cases were the result of increased fighting in Hodeidah.

The head of the organization's mission in Yemen, Christa Rothensteiner, said that the situation in the country is very difficult, especially in areas such as Aden governorate, where hospitals refuse to receive suspected cases of corona.
