Aden, Newsyemen :

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia demanded, on Tuesday, the International Security Council, to take decisive measures to eliminate the imminent catastrophe of the oil tanker (Saffer) anchored in the port of Ras Issa off Hodeidah caused by the irresponsible practices of the Houthi-Iranian militia arm in Yemen.

This came in a statement issued by the Saudi Council of Ministers during its weekly meeting, which was held on Tuesday in Riyadh, headed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, through video communication - from his headquarters in King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh.

According to the statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the council's discussion touched on what the UN Security Council has taken regarding the oil tanker (Saffer) anchored at Ras Issa port in Yemen several years ago, with an increased risk of its decomposition or explosion, and an environmental, economic and humanitarian catastrophe for Yemen and neighbouring countries.

"The kingdom has renewed its condemnation of the irresponsible practices of the Houthi terrorist militia causing this," the statement said.

"It also called on the Security Council to declare strong and decisive measures and eliminate the threat posed by the tanker," it added.

The Saudi position comes after the coup militia reneged on its pledge and approval to allow the entry of a technical mission of the United Nations to the "Saffer" floating tank for its maintenance and emptying, as part of its efforts to use this paper to pressure and blackmail the international community in causing the largest environmental disaster in the world.

The leader of the Houthi militia, and the head of what is called the Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, demanded on Tuesday, to solve the problem of Saffer, through a neutral third party, after he had announced two days before the session of the UN Security Council, his group's approval of the arrival of an international team to assess tank maintenance.
