Food and clothing prices in Taiz Governorate are witnessing a continuous increase around the clock as if it were a financial exchange and there is no decline in the prices of any commodity

According to a survey of Newsyemen , citizens complained about the increase in the prices of foodstuffs and essential commodities at rates exceeding their purchasing power in light of the deteriorating living situation and the persistence of interruptions in salaries.

The markets witnessed a 40% increase in prices with the approaching blessed Eid Al-Adha, as residents accepted to buy and purchase their needs.

Abdulrahman al-Sharabi told NewsYemen that the prices are increasing every day, and the citizen has become unable to perform his duties towards his family on the holiday.

He added, "The holiday has become difficult with the oppression the citizen is experiencing and he sees his children deprived of the joy of the holiday."

As Safiya Al-Qudsi said that during three days of shopping she was unable to purchase clothes for five of her children, and she was carrying an amount of twenty-five thousand riyals.

She added that she needs another 25,000 to buy clothes for her five children, at a rate of 10,000 per child, which is not enough.

"Instead of making Eid a day of happiness, it has become a day of despair," she said sadly.

Within days before Eid al-Adha, the prices of clothes and foodstuffs reached record levels, thousands of families were unable to provide for their needs.

As usual, traders attribute the rise in prices to the dollar's rise in banking markets, and the money changers manipulating the value of the local currency without the supervision of the authorities.
