Aden, Newsyemen:

The Southern Transitional Council announced, on Tuesday evening, the suspension of its participation in the consultations to implement the mechanism to accelerate the Riyadh Agreement, which was underway between its delegation and the delegation of the government of interim President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi in the Saudi capital.

This came in a statement published by the Transitional Council on its official website, which reads as follows:

The Southern Transitional Council sent an official message to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the sponsor of the Riyadh Agreement, between it and the Yemeni government.

In its message, the Council confirmed the suspension of its participation in the ongoing consultations to implement the agreement, noting that the suspension decision came for the following reasons:

1. The continuation and increase in the pace of military escalation by the forces affiliated with the Yemeni government in the governorate of Abyan, and their failure to abide by the agreed-upon ceasefire, as they carried out more than 350 documented violations, resulting in more than 75 martyrs and wounded from the heroes of our southern armed forces since the declaration of a ceasefire on Monday, June 22, 2020.

2. The continuation of the military build-up operations towards the south with the great participation of elements of Al-Qaeda and ISIS within the framework of the forces affiliated with the Yemeni government in Abyan.

3. Not looking after the families of the martyrs and treating the wounded who gave their lives and blood for the cause of the South and the Arab project.

4. Not to spend monthly pensions and salaries for several months, especially allocations to the military and security sectors, and to settle the status of military and civilian retirees, as well as civil sector employees, especially teachers.

5. The forces affiliated with the Yemeni government continue to target civilians in Shabwa governorate, Hadhramaut Valley and Al-Mahrah, with physical liquidations, repression, arrests, enforced disappearances and torture inside prisons.

6. The collapse of public services in the southern governorates, and the failure to find any real solutions that would meet the citizens' needs.

7. The continuing collapse of the currency, the failure to provide cash liquidity in the southern governorates, the inflation of goods and services prices, and the consequent tragic repercussions for the citizen.
