The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the government of interim President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi said, on Monday, that the United Nations mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) has become restricted and at the mercy of the Houthi militia, and the continuation of its work in light of this situation has become useless, but it did not specify a position on remaining adhering to the agreement.

It confirmed the Houthis' continued use of Hodeidah as a platform for attacks by drones, booby-trapped boats and remote marches, as well as the exploitation of the Hodeidah agreement for mobilization in the governorates of Al-Jawf and Marib.

She said that the Houthi militia continues to undermine the implementation of the requirements of the Hodeidah Agreement and the work of the UN mission, restrict its freedom and movement, refuse to remove mines, open humanitarian corridors, or allow UN patrols to move inside the city.

It stated that the UN mission was unable to investigate the Houthis ’targeting of the government liaison officer, Colonel Muhammad al-Sulayhi, who is supposed to be protected by the mission, as the Houthis refused to investigate and bombed the observation point where the targeting was carried out to undermine any investigation by the United Nations.

While demanding the need for a transparent and comprehensive investigation into the criminal targeting of Colonel Al-Sulayhi, the transfer of the UN mission headquarters to a neutral location in Hodeidah, and the securing of the UN mission’s work to ensure the mission’s implementation of its mandate specified by Security Council Resolution 2452.

The Foreign Ministry indicated that the Houthi militia’s violations of the ceasefire in Hodeidah have escalated dramatically, as during July 2020 it reached (7378) violations, resulting in 97 human losses, including 14 martyrs and 83 wounded, including 3 civilians.
