The war of the Houthi militia doubles the incidence of mental illness in Taiz

 The war that was sparked by the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, and its repercussions caused psychological conditions for all Yemenis of all groups.

Medical sources confirmed to Newsyemen that the condition the Yemenis are suffering from, the exacerbation of life pressures, the displacement has doubled the incidence of mental diseases.

In conjunction with the International Day of Mentally Ill, sources at the Psychiatric and Neurological Hospital in Taiz told Newsyemen that the hospital receives from 40 to 50 patients daily, most of whom had worsened during the war.

The sources indicated that the number of cases that receive treatment in the hospital is approximately 220 patients, indicating that the hospital is currently receiving emergency cases and this is due to the deterioration of the hospital’s infrastructure and its bed capacity.

It confirmed that about a thousand cases of neuropsychiatric patients visit the hospital every month, and they are provided with full support with medicines and integrated medical services.

Regarding the total number of mental cases in Taiz, the sources said, it is not possible to determine the total number of patients in Taiz, as there are no official statistics.
