On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh announced the arrival of a new Iranian ambassador to the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, which is under the control of the Houthi militia.

Khatibzadeh confirmed, in a statement carried by the Iranian "Fars" news agency, the arrival of the new ambassador, Hassan Irloa, to Sanaa, and said that he was an "extraordinary and full-fledged ambassador."

He added, "The new Iranian ambassador in Sanaa will soon present a copy of his credentials to the (not internationally recognized) Minister of Foreign Affairs in the National Salvation Government Hisham Sharaf, and he will also present his credentials to the head of the Houthi political council, Mahdi Al-Mashat."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry did not mention the way its ambassador entered Yemen, but political sources told "NewsYemen" that the Iranian diplomat arrived in Sanaa on board an Omani plane, as part of a deal between US intelligence and the Houthis, according to which the Houthis handed over the body of an American soldier, with no details announced about it. In exchange for allowing the Houthis to fly an Omani plane from Muscat to Sana'a without the supervision of the Arab coalition, it carried a number of their leaders from Tehran, including Tehran's first ambassador to the Houthi.
