Sanaa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The killing of Hassan Zaid, Minister of Youth and Sports in the Houthi militia government, on Tuesday in the occupied capital, Sana'a, by unidentified gunmen, raised many questions about who was behind his death.

The incident that targeted the wanted No. 14 in the Arab coalition list in exchange for a reward of 10 million riyals, coincided with tight security measures taking place in Sana'a, in which the Houthis are preparing to commemorate the birth of the Prophet, and the Iranian military ruler Hassan Irloo presented his credentials as an alleged ambassador of Iran to the militias, which is likely that the incident was one of the liquidation operations in the ranks of the coup group.

Hassan Muhammad Zaid, a Yemeni politician and one of the founders of the Al-Haq Party who was killed while occupying the position of its Secretary General, was born in the old city of Sana'a in 1954, holds a master's degree in education sciences, held the first government position in 2014 in the government of Khaled Mahfoud Bahah, and was the most prominent supporter of a coup of the Houthi militia over the authority of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, and one of the instigators of his liquidation, before he fled to Aden, and in late 2016 he was appointed Minister of Youth and Sports formed by the militias headed by Abdulaziz bin Habtoor.

The Houthi militias were quick to exploit the incident a few hours after the assassination, and accused what they called "criminal elements of the forces of aggression" of being behind the assassination of Hassan Zaid, before calling on citizens in their areas of control to the large presence to commemorate the birth of the Prophet in order to respond to this crime.

The journalist, Ahmed Al-Sabahi, mentioned in his tweet on Twitter that Hassan Zaid was killed today in the same way that the Houthi leaders killed Abdulkarim Jadban and Ahmed Sharaf al-Din, wondering whether his killing was a personal accident or whether the internal liquidations of the old political leaderships were behind in order to lead the scene by leaderships of new generation who do not have any political brakes, he said.

Al-Sabahi also asked about the relationship of the smuggled Iranian ambassador, Hassan Irloo, to this incident. However, the southern activist and politician, Abu Muhannad al-Shairi, indicated in a brief post on Twitter that the assassination of Hassan Zaid came because of his rejection of the Iranian ambassador to Sanaa.

Abdulwahhab Buhaibeh, assistant commander of the Beihan Axis, agrees with him, who said that Hassan Zaid was the first goal that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s ambassador in Sanaa started and would not be the last.

"Iran will liquidate traditional symbols to open the way for the most loyal Revolutionary Guard recruits," he added.

Journalist Sam Al-Ghobari also accused the militias of being behind the killing of Hassan Zaid, and said in his tweet, "The terrorists of Saada killed him, which confirms that the assassinations of Houthi terrorism have begun to rage and that they will not be safe from each other."

In In the war in Sanaa at the end of 2017, between the Houthis and the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Hassan Zaid was one of the instigators of the assassination of President Saleh, and one of those celebrating his death. In this regard, the journalist Al-Ghobari pointed out that Hassan Zaid, who was presented to him by Hussein Al-Ahmar, an armored car in the 2017 battle to protect him from President Saleh, did not realize that he who killed Saleh was the one who killed him today.

It is noteworthy that the crisis that ended with the Houthi’s control of power in Sanaa after he killed his ally, former President “Ali Abdullah Saleh,” also began on the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet.

Al-Houthi extends his influence throughout the capital, monitors all movements and redeployes his forces, and in August 2017, he entered his forces into the “Al-Saleh Mosque” and Al-Sabeen Square before he escalated from the clashes that ended in the war.

Politician Hani Masehour also believes that Hassan Zeid was physically liquidated in Sana'a, describing the incident by saying, "Houthi snakes bite each other."

Activists of the non-political community agree with political analyzes that see that conflicts within the Houthi militia stand behind the assassination of Hassan Zaid, as part of the series of assassinations that the group is witnessing.

Nabil Al-Aywi, says that the Houthi militias bear full responsibility for the assassination of Hassan Zaid, following the ongoing conflicts between the wings of the Houthi leadership.

While Ashjan Al-Hammadi said that the assassination of Hassan Zaid came days after the arrival of the Iranian supervisor to the capital, Sanaa.
