Sanaa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

Citizens complained about the madly high prices of vegetables in the areas under the control of the Houthi militia, without any monitoring or control of prices at a certain level.

Citizens confirmed that vegetable prices have reached a stage that is difficult to bear in light of the disruption of salaries for the fourth consecutive year.

According to the sources, the irregular flow of sufficient quantities of oil derivatives at reasonable prices to the supply stations pushes farmers to resort to the black market led by supervisors affiliated with the militia, the consequences of which are borne by the consumer.

Ali Ahmed, a citizen without a salary for years, indicated that the prices were appropriate until days ago, but they suddenly rose without any justification.

In addition to the prices of basic foodstuffs that have not stabilized anyway, which means that we are facing a group of traffickers of the citizen’s essential food without feeling the slightest responsibility.

He concluded by saying, and the matter does not settle on the high prices of oil derivatives only, but there are taxes and royalties added to farmers who are forced to add them directly to the consumer.

It should be noted that citizens throughout the country have become subject to blackmail by the parties to the conflict who are looking for wealth in light of the worst humanitarian situation the world has witnessed.

This comes after 6 years of war that exhausted citizens and increased the number of displaced persons, in addition to the passage of a year since the declaration of the "Riyadh Agreement", which has not yet been fulfilled, and more than two years of the Stockholm Agreement.

The capital, Sanaa, and the rest of the governorates under the control of the Houthi militia suffer from a complete absence of control over the prices of food and basic commodities, in addition to the pressure exerted by the militia against citizens.

It was reported that the financial revenues from the event of the Prophet’s Birthday Festival that was held more than a week ago in all governorates amounted to millions of riyals, of which at least 120 million went to the office of Abdulmalik Al-Houthi.

The sources confirm that the militia deliberately exhausts farmers and besieges them from time to time by imposing additional fees that leave them without options other than responding and paying those fees.

It is also manipulating the export of some agricultural products between governorates, which raises their prices to three times, as happened a few days ago with the prices of tomatoes, which reached more than 1500 riyals per kilo.
