An "unannounced" presidential decision appointing a new commander for the Third Military

Military sources reported that a republican decision was issued to appoint a new commander for the third military region, which is based in Marib Governorate.

The army spokesman in the sixth military region, Rabea al-Qurashi, said that the decision decided to appoint Brigadier General Mansour bin Abdullah Thawabeh as commander of the third military region.

He indicated, in his tweet on the Twitter platform, that the announcement of the decision will be made after the announcement of the formation of the government.

The appointment of a new commander for the third military region comes after the Houthi militia took control of most of the Al-Bayda governorate, and in light of the siege applied to the Marib Governorate and real fears of the possibility of storming the governorate center, especially with the escalation of attacks on all the surrounding fronts.

Sources close to Thawaba, who hails from Al-Jawf governorate and holds a master's in military sciences, stated that he held several positions in the Fifth Military Zone and the Border Guard in previous times, then in 2017 he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Sixth Military Region, followed by his appointment as acting commander of the same region, and the his last position was as an advisor to the Minister of Defense.
