A farmer's need in Abyan leads him to create a traditional fruit fly trap

The need led an agricultural engineer in Abyan governorate to devise a trap to control the fruit fly that does not depend on the insecticide harmful to crops.
The engineer and agricultural technician Ahmed Mohsen Dofan works on a farm in the Jaaula region, and he struggled with the two sorts of things, before developing a trap that succeeded in protecting his crop.
The trap depends on the cream as a substance that has an attractive smell to this insect, and on cheap traditional tools, which are the remnants of the water bottle and are specified in specific and small sizes, then they are coated with cream at the bottom for the smell that attracts flies, then cream and pesticide are mixed on the edges of the other side.
Dofan told NewsYemen that the fruit fly was a worrying concern for farmers every season due to the lack of hormones that attract and kill the fly.
And now many farmers are able to apply the idea and use it as an alternative to spraying with chemical pesticides that are harmful to human health.
Dofan adds, that the strong, strong smell attracts the fly, which is the bottom of the bear "the trap", and the fly absorbs the cream mixed with the pesticide, and it dies immediately.
Dofan advised farmers to use the trap, protect their crops, and save the trouble of using a disease-causing pesticide. It does not cost money, effort and time, and it is very simple and easy.
Creativity is a feature that realizes for many farmers the potential to invest their ideas and save a lot of costs.
Farmer Saleh Al-Wadi praises the fly trap, saying: We benefited greatly from this method of the fruit fly trap, and we made experiments on it and it succeeded, and we eliminated the fly that was destroying and damaging our agricultural crops.
He told NewsYemen that the experiment succeeded in eliminating more than 90% of protecting farmers' crops due to their easy and inexpensive use.
