Khokha, NewsYemen:

The Director of the Culture Office in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, Saad Slika, expressed his condemnation of the Houthi militia's destruction of the historic Sukhna city palace, southeast of Hodeidah.

Slika said that the militia’s destruction of the Sokhna Palace is part of the series of demolition, destruction and tampering with the tourist monuments in Tihama.

He stressed that the criminal act carried out by the militias today is not the first and it will not be the last that they commit against those buildings and historical architectural monuments in the governorate, but rather an extension of the destruction plan for those facilities, as it did in the historical castles in different areas of Tihama, such as Zaidiya, Zahra, Zabid and Bayt Al Faqih, so they turned them into prisons and military prisons and barracks.

He added that the Houthi militia blew up the Medi Castle and transformed the Corniche Castle in Hodeidah into a prison in which most of the people of Tihama, who opposed its intruder ideology, were forced into the Yemenis, to practice the worst forms of abuse and torture against them.

He appealed to the United Nations, all humanitarian organizations, the leadership of the Arab Coalition, and all peace-sponsoring countries, to urgently intervene to protect the human heritage that has been affected by Houthi tampering.

He considered that such attacks as bulldozing and demolishing archaeological, tourist and historical sites, exposing them to dangers and trading in them, are war crimes against the human heritage and are considered deliberate targeting of the infrastructure and striking tourist sites.

He confirmed the Houthi militia’s implementation of repeated attacks and systematic destruction of historical, archaeological and tourist buildings in the areas under their control in Al Hodeidah Governorate.
