Aden, NewsYemen:

France-Press Agency reported that 70 members of the government forces and the Houthi militia were killed in battles during the past 24 hours near the city of Marib, east of Yemen.

The agency quoted two government officials as saying that intense battles are taking place on three fronts, after a major attack by the Houthis, during which they made progress in the Kassara and Al-Masjiah areas northwest of the city of Marib, but they were unable to advance in the Jabal Murad area to the south.

According to the two officials, the dead were 26 members of the pro-government forces and 44 Houthi rebels.

The new battles took place the day after similar confrontations in which 53 of the two sides were killed, including 22 of the forces loyal to the legitimate authority, between Friday and Saturday, according to the French Agency.

One of the officials said that the rebels "are launching simultaneous attacks, and they have made progress in the Ksara and Mashjah front, but they have been thwarted in the Jabal Murad front."

The other official mentioned that the Saudi-led coalition warplanes "destroyed 12 Houthi military vehicles, including 4 tanks in addition to a cannon."
