Aden, NewsYemen:

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons Camps Management in Marib Governorate, northeastern Yemen, announced that more than 24,000 people have been displaced since the escalation of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, last February.

In a statement, the Executive Unit said that from February 6 to April 16, 3442 families, including 24,094 people, were displaced.

He added that most of the displaced are from Sarwah district, in the west of the Ma'rib governorate, with an average of about 90 percent, while others are from the districts of Ragwan (northwest) and the districts of Rahba and Jabal Murad in the southern side of the governorate.

The statement indicated that the displaced need shelter, food, drinking water and medicine supplies.

He called on international and relief organizations operating in Yemen to urgently intervene to provide relief to the displaced, alleviate their suffering, and save the lives of thousands of children, women and the elderly, in light of the lack of electricity in some camps, the high temperature, and the weak humanitarian interventions provided by humanitarian partners.

The statement appealed to the United Nations and the international community to exert pressure on the Houthis to stop their attacks on Marib and target the displaced and spare them new stages of displacement.
