Aden, NewsYemen:

The US State Department said, on Wednesday, that the Houthi militia’s attack on the city of Marib threatens one million displaced people inside Yemen.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a tweet on the ministry’s media office account on “Twitter,” that ending the Houthi attack on the city of Marib is an urgent humanitarian priority.

Price said the United States supports the UN Security Council's call for the Houthis to end the attack on Marib.

He added "It is an urgent humanitarian priority as it threatens one million displaced people inside Yemen".

Price called for allowing fuel shipments to enter Yemen on a regular basis to avoid further humanitarian disasters.

Earlier on Wednesday, Timothy Lenderking, the US special envoy to Yemen, confirmed that the battle in the Ma'rib governorate, northeastern Yemen, was "the biggest threat to peace efforts."

"If the fighting does not stop in Marib, it will lead to a bigger wave of battles and unrest," Lenderking told Congress.
