Between the failure of legitimacy and the futility of the Brotherhood ... A call to form a local leadership to protect Marib

Marib, NewsYemen, Basem Ali:

Legitimacy does not have a conception or even a general formula for peace, and there is no vision in its calculations for war or for managing the remainder of the battle.

There is an attack by the Houthi militia on Marib, and the retreat of the National Army forces began last year when Nihm, Al-Jawf, and districts fell in Marib, reaching an area close to the capital of the governorate.

On the other hand, the legitimacy stands watching the scene awaiting the fall of the city of Ma'rib, at a time when the forces are gathering in Hadhramaut and Shabwa without any military missions except for positioning on a map prepared by the senior legitimate leaders, Hadi and his deputy, as a depth of unity and a reserve force to confront the southerners.

A few days ago, the governor of Marib, Sultan Al-Arada, announced a kind of general mobilization and sought help from those who live in Marib and the rest of the governorates to defend Marib against the Houthi attack, and spoke that he would meet with the leaders of the Ministry of Defense the day after his appearance, which means that his position is far from coordinating with the army leadership and the legitimate leaders.

After his call for mobilization or donation in defense of Marib, sources close to the governor said that Al-Arada had received calls from the leaders of the legitimacy in Riyadh, blaming him for his call, because the call for mobilization was the right of the president and his deputy, and that his speech showed the army in a weak position, which is a moral victory for the militias, according to the description of Hadi and his deputy.

After Al-Arada, the governor of Al-Jawf, Amin Al-Akimi, appeared calling for al-Nafir or announcing the general mobilization of the people of Al-Jawf who were in Marib in response to the call of Sultan Al-Arada, but Al-Akimi was his call as a displaced person, which is an indication of his failure to build a military action to liberate his governorate.

Al-Arada's appearance with the same content for his speech was an explicit declaration of the failure of the legitimacy to manage its responsibilities and the absence of a national army to be built 6 years ago.

There are fighters, soldiers, groups and tribes who fight with a group of loyal and patriotic leaders and officers, but the army that has long talked about its preparation and mandate was a lie for the Yemeni Brotherhood and an imaginary strength for units whose members attended only when salaries were received.

Six years ago, the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood that fled to Marib, Riyadh and Turkey have tampered with the army and the military support provided by the coalition, as well as tampering with the future of an entire people, subjecting them to harassment or acceptance of the Houthi imamate and the new imam, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

The Brotherhood refused to involve the professional military officers and commanders who were within the formations of the Yemeni armed forces, under the pretext that these forces are loyal to Ali Saleh and his party, and they created a gelatinous military class from graduates of scientific institutes and the educational sector for reform, and enabled them to decide and manage the national army at the level of the axes, brigades, security services and even intelligence.

After 6 years of tampering, all the nomenclatures and formations that are crowded with payrolls and approvals have remained in the field only those who were excluded from assuming leadership positions in the National Army, along with groups from all governorates, next to the tribesmen who constitute the strong support for the military presence of legitimacy in Marib since the beginning of the war to today.

With the realization of legitimacy, its disastrous failure in the field and in managing files politically, service and humanitarianly, the legitimacy leadership also stands as an obstacle to any initiatives or proposals for solutions to support the fighters in Marib and strengthen their fronts, as it ignored an offer with military support from the joint forces of the Ma'rib fronts that would have constituted a strong push to change the equation on the ground in favor of legitimacy And the Arab Alliance.

After this accumulation of failure and thwarting all national efforts aimed at modifying the course of the battle and breaking the progress of the Houthi militia, legitimacy did not show any reaction until it could be considered as a result of sensing the seriousness of what is happening and the need to correct the situation.

In return, what are the options of the Marib tribes and all the political and national forces to make up for the remaining time and invest as much as possible of the cards.

The emergence of Al-Arada and the transparency of his talk about the need for everyone to participate in the defense of Marib can be considered a new position to build on to address the tribes of Marib and their local community partners in the battle against the militias with support to protect their governorate from the Houthi invasion.

If the tribes of Ma'rib have tolerated the Brotherhood’s exclusivity in building military units and controlling their decision without the local community’s participation in the structure, building and leadership of these units, then the danger of this leniency today poses an existential threat to these tribes and their historical legacy, traditions and customary laws prevailing for hundreds of years.

Leaders of the Ma'rib tribes, its political elites, and their military leaders, and all officers and graduates of military institutes and colleges are required to form a local leadership that represents them, consisting of tribesmen, officers, politicians, businessmen and religious figures to speak for Marib and support its governor, who bore the burden of the failure of legitimacy and the Muslim Brotherhood’s tampering with its decision.

Unless a framework is formed that represents Marib and its components, restores the defense and war decision in the governorate, and builds new alliances with the partners in the battle against the Houthis, the fate of Marib remains threatened by dangers no less than what happened in Al-Jawf governorate.
