Aden, NewsYemen:

The US administration renewed its call on the Houthi militia to stop the fighting and engage in UN-led talks to end this devastating war in Yemen.

The US State Department, through its spokesman, Ned Price, said on Monday that "the Houthis stand in the way of peace."

In a statement, Price added, "There is an international consensus that the time has come to end the conflict. The Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia have committed to stopping the fighting and resuming political talks."

He continued: The United States condemns the Houthi missile attack on October 3 on the densely populated Al-Rawda neighborhood in Marib, Yemen.  That killed two children and injured an estimated 33 civilians, including women and children, according to UN agencies.

"Civilians will suffer as long as the Houthis' brutal military attacks continue," he said.

He added: Since the beginning of the year, the Houthis have intensified their attacks, both inside Yemen and against Saudi Arabia, putting the lives of civilians at risk, including more than 70,000 US citizens living in Saudi Arabia.

He also pointed out that "these measures exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, which has already reached historic proportions."
