Shabwa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

On Sunday evening, the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, launched a campaign of raids and inspections of money exchange shops in the city of Al-Alia, the center of Bayhan District, Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen.

Local sources told NewsYemen that the Houthi militia raided the exchange companies in the city, in search of new banknotes from the national currency.

The sources added that the militia's gunmen confiscated large sums of money from a number of money exchange companies and shops in the city of Al-Alia, under the pretext of preventing their circulation in Houthi-controlled areas.

The sources indicated that the Houthi militia had given the people, money exchangers and merchants in Bayhan a deadline to get rid of the banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden, after taking control of the three districts, without a fight.
