Ibb, NewsYemen, private:

Local sources in Ibb governorate reported that the headquarters of the Yemeni Writers Union was subjected yesterday to armed robbery and the destruction of all property and furniture, including the library and important documents and manuscripts.

Writers and citizens accused the local authority, represented by leaders loyal to the Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen, of destroying and destroying the entire headquarters of the Union.

The photos published by Ahmed Tarish Khorsan, a member of the Writers' Union in the governorate, on his Facebook page, who had previously been arrested by the militia and imprisoned for a long time, showed the extent of the damage to the building, its furniture, and its library.

The Houthi group is leading systematic operations against the headquarters of writers with the motive of obliterating everything that belongs to the cultural, literary and journalistic scene in the various governorates under its control.

And the Union building in Dhamar governorate was previously controlled 3 years ago by armed militiamen, and the "Culture House" in Sana'a was recently transformed into a women's clothing market amid widespread discontent and discontent.

Also, all sources and budgets were suspended, including previous balances and dues for operating expenses for all branches of the unions, including the Sana'a branch, and it has been suspended for nearly 7 years.

Tarish accused the local council of complicity and the director of the General Authority for Survey and Land nicknamed Abu al-Hassan, who threatened to confiscate the union building in the event of non-payment of dues and rents despite his prior knowledge that there is no budget.

Khorsan considered that what is happening is a systematic destruction of the governorate's capabilities, infrastructure and existing institutions, and an outright betrayal of the late struggler, writer Muhammad Ali al-Rabadi.

He also appealed to all concerned with public opinion, literature, media and culture to condemn what is happening to the headquarters of the Union and the abuses committed against writers and their public property, and to stand in the face of this deliberate erosion of the national identity.

Certainly, this peaceful city is not worth all this fuss.  It is the one that goes to all its offices’ allocations from taxes, endowments, duties, the hygiene fund, and land to the center in Sana’a.  He accused the Houthi militia of excluding cadres from the governorate from all positions and handing them over to its loyalists from the governorates of Saada, Amran, Dhamar and Hajjah.
