Aden, NewsYemen:

The Giants Brigades took control of the center of Usaylan District, west of Shabwa, in the first phase of Operation Cyclone of the South, which it was launched on Saturday to expel the Houthi militia from the strategic Bayhan districts.

In September 2021, the Houthi militia took control of 3 districts in Shabwa, facilitated by Brotherhood forces, which withdrew without a fight, including the Usaylan district, which was recaptured by the Giants forces (Saturday), in addition to the districts of Bayhan and Ain.

A striking attack by units of the giants managed to take control of Usayan within a few hours of launching the military campaign against the Iran-backed Houthi militia in the western province of Shabwa, located on the Arabian Sea, as part of a military operation aimed at liberating it completely and lifting the siege on Marib.

It was noted that the military leaders of the Giants Brigades adopted a decisive strategy, in managing the battle with the Houthis, from the first sight, entering the line of direct confrontations on the ground, in Shabwa, starting from the liberation of Usaylan with a decisive military operation.

Away from the content of the false image of the power of the Houthis, which has been perpetuated - and still is - by the fronts under the domination of the Brotherhood's Islah party elements, starting from the east of Sanaa, Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda and Taiz, and all the way to Marib, the importance remains to extrapolate the recent transformations in the war equation from the angle of the general image of the role of the giant forces throughout years of war against the Houthis.

decisive strategy

There is what is essential in the ground operation underway in Shabwa governorate, related to the nature of the strategy of the local forces backed by the United Arab Emirates, to manage the war operations against the Houthi militia loyal to Iran, in its theater of operations in southern and western Yemen.

from the beginning the performance of the Giants Brigades on the battlefields was effective, as these forces, within the joint forces, played an influential military role in undermining the Houthis’ influence map on the western coast of Yemen, depriving them of the advantage of controlling the largest area of Yemeni geography.

In comparison with the performance of the forces affiliated with the legitimacy under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood, in the confrontation with the Houthi militia, the giant forces remained the most decisive in the course of the war, as they formed the secret code for the defeats inflicted on the Houthis, especially in the western coastal strip of Yemen.

The joint Yemeni forces, whose solid lever is represented by the Giants Brigades, had previously dropped the myth of Houthi excellence in the field in 2018, but the Stockholm Agreement formed a thick wall to protect the Houthis from defeat, after the coastal forces penetrated into the city of Hodeidah in a battle that was almost writing the final chapter of the coup.

Houthi fears of entering giants

The Houthi militia did not find a suitable place to hide its concern, about the arrival of units of the giants, to Shabwa, and their holding the insignia of leadership for the battle to liberate the province, a concern expressed by the first by targeting Ataq Civil Airport with two ballistic missiles, as soon as it received it from these forces.

Analysts described the Houthi missile attack on Ataq Airport, as well as the similar attack hours later on a camp in the Markha district, in which units of the giants were stationed, as an expression of the Houthis' growing concern about these forces and the role they could play in changing the rules of military confrontations.

In their opinion, the militia has realistic reasons to fear the entry of giant brigades on the Bayhan liberation line, due to the Houthis' knowledge of the nature of those forces that inflicted many defeats on them on other fronts, including the western coast, and also with the essential goal of breaking the Houthi thorn and liberating the lands that it controlled without confrontation.
