On Saturday, the ministers of the G7 summit called on all Yemeni parties to engage in constructive talks under the leadership of the United Nations, to turn the armistice into a permanent ceasefire and eventually reach a lasting peace.

In addition to the United States of America, the Group of Seven includes: Germany, France, Britain, Japan, Italy and Canada.

In a statement issued at the conclusion of a three-day meeting in Wangles, northern Germany, the G7 ministers said, we call on all parties in Yemen to respect the armistice, implement confidence-building measures for the benefit of the Yemeni people and engage constructively in talks to open the Taiz-Hoban road.

The Ministers welcomed the two-month truce in Yemen and associated confidence-building measures, including the import of fuel through the Hudaydah ports and the opening of Sanaa Airport, mediated by the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg.

The statement also called for accountability for Houthi violations and abuses of human rights and international humanitarian law.

He also stressed the need to allow and facilitate humanitarian access, in particular fuel, which must flow unimpeded to and throughout the country, according to the statement.
