Hodeidah, NewsYemen, Hadeel Muhammad:

The suffering of the residents of Al-Hodeidah Governorate increases every year on these days. In addition to the violations of the terrorist Houthi militia, Iran’s arm in Yemen, and its crimes against civilians, the hot summer comes in light of the government’s power outages, and the high electricity tariffs of the private sector, in which leaders of the militia participate.  In the governorate, the suffering is exacerbated by the poorest residents of the governorate, who live in poor living and economic conditions.

 The militia rejects all solutions

Every summer, the residents of Hodeidah experience collective suffering and punishment, while the militia completely controls the governorate’s resources, and it is not concerned with the suffering of the citizens who live in a tragic situation due to severe heat and power outages, and it rejects all solutions that can alleviate the suffering of the residents of Hodeidah.

Many men and young residents of Hodeidah are forced to sleep on the roofs of houses or in front of the doors of their homes, while women and children remain inside homes that resemble saunas these days in light of the power cuts and all ventilation and cooling devices.

Hodeidah supports Saada electricity

The coup militia had established a few years ago the Hodeidah Governorate Emergency Fund dedicated to electricity and service institutions in the governorate, and since its establishment, it has not provided anything for Hodeidah, as its resources go to the pockets of the militia leaders.  The militia accepted an undersecretary for financial affairs, who seized 400 million riyals in 2019 from the resources of the Hodeidah Emergency Fund.

In his tweets on Twitter, a member of the House of Representatives of the Houthi militia, Ahmed Saif Hashid, revealed that the Hodeidah Emergency Fund is among its allocations to support Saada electricity, in reference to the militia’s looting of the resources of Hodeidah Governorate in favor of Saada Governorate electricity.

 Diseases and deaths

With the intense heat wave, skin diseases and fevers spread, and many patients with heart disease, diabetes and blood pressure are exposed to fainting and death, as well as the severe suffering that women, children and the elderly pay their taxes due to the intense heat inside the homes.

According to medical sources in Hodeidah, newborn children die during the summer as a result of high temperature and poor health care due to the lack of electricity in the governorate controlled by the terrorist Houthi militia.

According to the sources, the continuation of electricity cuts in extreme heat is a major cause of complications for a number of patients with heart, diabetes and pressure that lead to their death.

During the summer months, from June to August, Al-Hodeidah Governorate is hit by a severe heat wave, where the temperature reaches 45 degrees Celsius, and the high humidity ranges between 70 and 85 degrees Celsius, which leads to the damage of chronic diseases such as diabetes and stress, and the occurrence of cases of  Fainting among children, the elderly and the sick.
