Aden, NewsYemen:

The UN Security Council expressed its disappointment at the failure to extend the armistice in Yemen, which expired on the second of October.

In a statement published by the Norwegian mission to the United Nations on its Twitter account on Wednesday evening, the council said that the council members welcomed the Yemeni government's involvement in the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen.

The Security Council stressed that the Houthis' "exaggerated demands in the last days of the negotiations impeded the efforts of the international organization to mediate the agreement, threatening negative consequences."

In addition, he called on the Yemeni parties, especially the Houthis, to "refrain from provocation and to return to engaging constructively in negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations."

He also expressed concern about "the tone of the rhetoric that deliberately threatened negotiations and actions that impeded economic stability in Yemen."

He stressed the need to avoid the resumption of hostilities inside Yemen, as well as attacks in the region and in the Red Sea.

He added that he will continue to take all measures to support efforts to achieve peace, security and stability in Yemen.

It is noteworthy that international efforts are still underway to extend the previous armistice, which expired on the second of October (2022).
