Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

The Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - continues to ignore the crime of the damaged chemical syringe, whose death toll from pediatric leukemia patients has risen to 20 deaths.

While dozens of children are still in the intensive care rooms of Kuwait Hospital affected by the symptoms of the expired dose, human rights activists are calling for the dismissal of the Minister of Health, officials of the Medicines Authority and the Kuwait Hospital, and for referring those involved in the crime to trial.

In a related context, sources working in the health sector revealed to (Newsmen) the entry of pharmaceutical items into Sana'a that are classified as narcotics smuggled from Kenya to Mogadishu and from Mogadishu to Yemen, through smugglers and influential people in the ranks of the group.

Pointing out the involvement of leaders in the ranks of the militia of Iran's arm, in facilitating the entry of smuggled medicines into Yemen within days, in exchange for obstructing and delaying the agents' medicines for more than 3 months to transport them from Aden to Sana'a.

The Yemeni Organization for Combating Human Trafficking had previously said that the Ministry of Public Health and Population of the Houthi militia had dispensed an expired dose of treatment for children with cancer in Kuwait Hospital, which led to the poisoning and death of dozens of children (without specifying their number).

Since its takeover of state institutions in September 2015, the Houthi militia has been practicing an unprecedented process of destruction and corruption for the health sector, including imposing exorbitant fees for treatment services in government hospitals, and forcing patients to purchase medicines from private pharmacies whose owners have commercial ties to leaders in the group.
