Southern forces reinforce their presence in Al-Mahfad to hunt down booby-trapped cells

The southern forces have tightened security measures in the Al-Mahfad district in Abyan governorate, following the terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda militants by planting explosive devices on public and secondary roads, killing a number of soldiers.

The Staff of the War of the First Brigade, Lt. Col. Dayan al-Shabhi, stated that the security and military units participating in Operation Arrows al-Sharq have put in place security measures in order to confront the treacherous al-Qaeda attacks and establish security and stability in Al-Mahfad.

He added that the forces began combing remote areas in Al-Mahfad, including Wadi Khayala, where sleeper cells of terrorist elements are taking their sites and dens.

He explained that 3 soldiers of our southern armed forces were martyred in treacherous bombing operations by terrorist organizations, including his personal companion, during their storming of Wadi Khayala.

The Staff of the First Brigade confirmed the continuation of the combing and purification process of the remaining valleys and mountains in which the elements of terrorist organizations are located.

He added: "These cowardly acts will not intimidate us and will not deter us from continuing to purify the remote areas of Al-Mahfad District and end these mercenary criminal groups."

For his part, the official spokesman for the Southern Armed Forces, Lt. Col. Muhammad al-Naqib, confirmed that the forces participating in Operation Siham al-Sharq continue to perform their tasks to establish security and stability in all directorates of Abyan governorate and to track down terrorist elements.

Lt. Col. Al-Naqib said in a statement carried by Reuters: "The terrorist elements are trying, by planting booby-traps and explosive devices, to stop Abyan's entitlement, and specifically the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is interested in stability and moving from the state of intimidation that it has experienced during the past three years."
