While a security source in the Taiz police confirmed to NewsYemen that the security campaign continued for the seventh day to pursue the wanted men in the neighborhoods of Kalabah and Zaid Al-Mushki, but private sources said that the campaign did not arrest any of the accused or wanted persons announced, and was unable to arrest Ghazwan Al-Mikhlafi, who fled to the Kalabah area.
On Friday evening, NewsYemen sources said that local mediation stopped the mutual escalation and the security campaign was satisfied with a number of crews in a number of its deployment sites, pending the handover of Ghazwan Al-Mikhlafi to the Public Prosecution, but differences with the director of security hindered the mediation, amid intense contacts conducted by the Taiz axis advisor Salem with the leadership Security and police to contain the escalation.
Two days ago, Ghazwan Al-Mikhlafi declared his defiance, threatening to avenge his brother's death, saying: "We will show you great valor and we will strike with an iron fist. Our response will soon be a harsh, decisive and resolute response, and none of you will hide from us."
The Taiz police announced last Sunday the killing of Suhaib Al-Mikhlafi during his resistance to the authorities, but sources close to the Al-Mikhlafi family said that the killing took place insidiously in a house in Al-Rawda neighborhood without any clashes.
The Taiz police did not announce the details of its week-long campaign, with the exception of the security director’s announcement that the “real” security campaign would start last Thursday, as he described it, but it did not achieve any results.
A NewsYemen reporter said that a number of security campaign teams are deployed in the streets of Al-Rawda and Al-Mushki, amid the absence of armed elements since last Sunday, and the sources say that the gunmen are hiding inside the Kalaba neighborhood, adjacent to the Houthi areas, where multiple armed groups are present in the middle of neighborhoods and alleys that are difficult to break into.
The Taiz Governorate Police announced that it had achieved achievements during the past week, and said that it had received (74) incoming reports of various cases, and achieved a seizure rate of (72%), and indicated that the number of seized cases is 52, while the number of cases under follow-up is 21 cases.
The police explained that the cases were distributed between traffic accidents, damage, theft of homes and shops, assault on homes, attempted murder, light intentional harm, disturbance of public tranquility, assault on public property, intentional bombing, resistance to authority, looting of private property, fraud and fraud, while it announced 12 other cases, which it did not disclose.
The police said that the total number of defendants was 86, while the number of those arrested was 54, and the number of those who escaped from justice was 21, while 11 cases were registered with unknown names.
