Al-Qaten, NewsYemen Special:

The conflict raged between the leaders of the First Military Region brigades, loyal to the Brotherhood's Islah party, to control and seize the huge financial allocations that are taken under the cover of securing oil trailers coming from Wadi Hadramout towards Shabwa governorate.

A violent conflict reached the point of planting explosive devices and targeting the military forces charged with protecting oil trailers that transport crude oil by land from the production fields in the Khashaa area in the Hadhramaut Valley to tanks in the Al-Uqla oil field in Shabwa governorate in preparation for pumping it through oil pipelines that reach the Al-Nashima port on the Arabian Sea.

Yesterday, a military group of the 101st Air Police Brigade was attacked with an explosive device planted on the Al-Abr International Road that connects Hadramout and Shabwa, and the attack caused the death and injury of 5 members of the brigade.

The sources pointed out that the explosion occurred on the International Al-Abra Line, 20 km from the production fields of the "Calvali Petroleum" oil company, in the Al-Khashaa area, near the Al-Abar Directorate in Hadramout Governorate.

The attack on the forces of the 101st Air Police Brigade, came after an agreement concluded by the company with the brigade leadership regarding the accreditation of about 150 soldiers for protection and securing its land tankers that leave the production fields in Al-Khashaa until they reach the Al-Uqla field in Shabwa.

The 101st Brigade's obtaining the privilege of securing protection angered military leaders in another priority of the First Military District, and prompted them to demand the right to protection and to involve them in the large financial allocations taken from the "Calvalli" company, which returned to resume work in the production and export of oil.

The incident of targeting the 101st Air Police Brigade team, came after a similar incident on the same road, in which the forces of the 37th Armored Brigade, which was charged with protecting the oil tankers coming from Al-Khasha’a to Al-Uqla in Shabwa, targeted the forces of the 37th Armored Brigade, killing and wounding about 7 soldiers.

Local sources in Wadi Hadramawt explained to NewsYemen that the two targeting of the oil protection forces on the Al-Abr road revealed the reality of the great conflict in which the leaders of the first military region brigades compete to obtain the right of protection.

The sources added that each brigade command in the first region wants to appear as the best in protection and insurance, and that the explosive devices that are detonated are an indication of the weakness of the current force charged with protection, after which the company was asked to involve other brigades at a greater cost to ensure non-targeting and facilitate protection between Al-Khawsa and Al-Aqla.
