Aden, NewsYemen, Ammar Ali Ahmed:

After a delay of more than 4 years, the Communications Company (Y) in Aden announced, on Thursday, the trial launch of the 4G service in a publicity ceremony in the official presence presented by Najib Al-Auj, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and in the presence of a number of company management managers, employees and media representatives.

Despite the ambiguity in the minister’s speech and that of the CEO of the company, Ali Salem Al-Aidarous, about the company’s current capabilities, the date of the official launch of the service, and the level and prices of the service, the mere announcement of the presence of a new company in Aden with fourth generation services was very welcomed by the residents of the liberated areas, especially the capital, Aden.

The popular welcome for the company is due to the deteriorating situation of the telecommunications sector in the liberated areas and its survival at the mercy of the telecommunications companies under the control of the Houthi group in Sana’a, with the state of frustration caused by the failure of previous attempts in this field by the legitimacy, the most prominent of which was the launch of the “Aden Net” company about 4 years ago.  And the announcement, about two years ago, of moving the headquarters of the "SabaFon" company from Sana'a to Aden.

Where the first "Aden Net" ended up being an internet service provider with a limited number of users and in Aden only, while the second "SabaFon" ended up being just a closed communication network within the liberated areas and using a 2G system, separate from its network in the areas under Houthi control with the rest  Communication companies refuse to link with them.

The reality of the current failure of "Aden Net" and "SabaFon", it seems that it will also catch up with the fledgling company "Y" at the present time, according to what was mentioned in the minister's speech at the inauguration ceremony, and was confirmed by what the director of the company said in an interview with him by the "Independent Aden" channel.  of the Transitional Council on Friday evening.

In his speech, the minister indirectly acknowledged the persistence of the dilemma that hampered the launch of the “Aden Net” company 4 years ago, which is represented by the encryption process that the “international gateway for the Internet” in Aden was subjected to, which prevented the ministry and the company from linking through the new submarine cable (AAE-1), which is connected  The portal, which prompted the ministry to find an alternative to that during the last period, which the minister addressed in his speech at the inauguration ceremony, where he indicated that there were many questions about the efforts made by the Ministry of Communications during the last period.

The Minister’s response to these questions was by announcing “Bushra Investments that will participate in the expansion of the telecommunications sector.” Rather, he said that the Ministry currently has “many requests regarding the provision of services for the fourth generation and the fifth generation during the coming period,” but he goes back and acknowledges the difficult technical situation that the Ministry suffers from.  Currently, as a result of what the international portal was exposed to, although it was not explicitly recognized.

Where the minister indicated that the ministry worked to "find channels and alternatives" in reference to the submarine cable that was encrypted, and these alternatives, as the minister says: including linking with a Saudi company through a special fiber through the deposit and Sharurah, and this will lead to providing high capacities. We also have agreements and protocols with  Many neighboring countries, including Djibouti, are currently covered by "Aden Net".

The minister added, "Currently working with some international companies to partner in some submarine cables that are being established," explaining that any companies coming through the submarine cable through Djibouti will be covered, and here is a dangerous statement from the minister that the communications situation will not witness a significant improvement in the liberated areas  During the coming period, if the dependence on the submarine cable through Djibouti remains, which is the reason behind the inability of "Aden Net" to expand.

This result is implicitly confirmed by the director of the company, Al-Aidarous, in his dialogue with “Independent Aden”, where he explained that the issue of starting the company commercially in the market depends on “the issue of securing the international gateway, which is managed by Aden Net”, stressing that the data capacities of the company, which  You can get it from this portal "it is currently still limited", which means that the company's current situation will not differ from that of "Aden Net".

The director of the company clearly acknowledged that the company’s situation also would not differ from the situation of “SabaFon” company in the liberated areas, where he said that Sabafon company was only able to connect with this company and failed to interconnect with other telecommunication companies such as “Yemen Mobile” and the land phone network, and that.”  Because controlling this is not from Aden,” he said.
