Cairo, NewsYemen, exclusive:

The Egyptian Navy's announcement of officially carrying out tasks to protect regional waters in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden, through the Joint Task Force 153, which was formed on April 17, carried a clear message to Iranian ambitions in light of the internal conflict in Yemen.

The decision, according to many observers and politicians, coincided with the "African-American" summit in the presence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which started last Wednesday.  It came to block the way for broad and dangerous regional ambitions, the process of smuggling weapons to militias and extremist organizations, as well as the smuggling of prohibited materials.

On the importance of the presence of these forces and their impact on deterring the movements of Iran's arm at the present moment, and the dimensions of that, these were the opinions of NewsYemen:

Great capabilities and great experience

Abdel-Karim al-Maddy, a journalist and politician, says: "Egypt is present in this region and is considered one of the most important regional and international actors in protecting the security of the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Arabian Sea."

And he added, "Egypt takes into account its national interests, Arab national security, and the security and safety of global trade that passes through this important international shipping line," pointing out that "Egypt has the strongest naval forces in Africa and the region, and it has great experience and superior capabilities; logistically and militarily, as well as equipment and ships, which are  It is in the interest of all of us to protect the sea from Houthi terrorism and any threats to the security of navigation."

Strengthening Arab national security

Abd al-Sattar al-Shamiri, a researcher and political analyst, had an accurate opinion and carried many points, saying: “The importance of intensifying the presence of Egyptian forces in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which was already present at a high rate for a while, but this activation and strengthening of the presence gives a great significance.  importance that can be viewed from several angles.

In his view, the most important angles come from the fact that the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab have become a global theater of conflict, indicating that there is a presence of countries that are not entitled to exist, and are not in the maritime regular area of the Red Sea.

The discussion here, according to him, is about countries such as Turkey, Iran, Israel and others.  Because these countries or some of them should settle in the vicinity of the security zone in the Arabian Sea on the outskirts of Aden, and this Egyptian presence, given that the Egyptian navy is the strongest and most important in our region, gives an indication of Egypt's direction to strengthen the Yemeni cause from the sea gate as an important gate.  It also gives indications that the indications were that Iran had recently reinforced the Houthis with qualitative naval weapons and that it wanted to transfer the battle from land to sea to invest in the concerns of nations in the matter of energy.

In his view, these movements give an indication that Egypt, being a primary interest, will not allow such confusion, and that it will preserve its interests and the interests of the Arab world, especially since the Suez Canal constitutes the end of the pipeline, because the Red Sea is a pipeline that begins at Bab al-Mandab and ends in the Suez Canal.

In the same context, he pointed out that any damage to this region would be a serious harm to Egyptian interests and the Suez Canal, and therefore this matter should be viewed as a geopolitical dimension and that Egypt is trying to actively contribute to the stability of the region through the qualitative naval force that it possesses, and also strengthen the role of the Arab coalition and Yemen.  Which needs to be strengthened at this moment, and also indicates that Egypt has become a present power, especially in the maritime field, and can contribute to strengthening Arab national security.

Headed annoyed the Houthi militia

Abdullah al-Dahmashi, a journalist and politician, stressed the importance of the role of these forces, saying: "There is no doubt that the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait are important to the whole world as they are the most important waterway for global energy, and the importance increases with the global energy crisis due to the Ukraine war."

He pointed out that the importance is increasing with regard to Arab national security and the interests of the countries bordering the Red Sea, especially Egypt, due to the importance of Bab al-Mandab to the Suez Canal, hence the importance of Egypt's leadership of the joint forces in the Red Sea.

He explained that this is what annoyed the Houthis, as they will not be able to threaten the security of waterways and serve Iran in this vital region for the Arab countries and the world.

Stop the expansion of Houthi terrorism

For his part, Abdullah Al-Sanami, a journalist, commented: "The Egyptian forces, specifically the navy sector, play a pivotal role in the security of the Red Sea, north and south, as a maximum strategy for the security of the region, especially with the challenges that the geography of the Red Sea is witnessing, such as the emergence of a militia entity supported by Iran."  in large parts of Yemen.

He stressed that "the matter represents a real threat to Arab national security, and Egyptian in particular, not to mention international peace and security, especially Bab al-Mandab strategically, if terrorist groups manage it, it will be a great danger to international security."

Al-Sanami pointed to the ability to assume responsibility by asserting that the Egyptian army, the strongest in the region, possesses a military legacy in dealing with the Yemeni topography, which makes it the most worthy and efficient in this task.

He added, "In view of the threats announced by the Houthi group, and Iran behind it, towards Yemeni territorial waters, Bab al-Mandab represents the cornerstone of all of this, which doubles the importance of the role of the Egyptian armed forces in protecting this important navigational corridor."

Abdullah believes that the announcement of assigning the Egyptian Armed Forces to lead the tasks of the Joint Forces 153 is a new embarrassment for the Houthis, who are sparing a conflict in the Red Sea, to get out of the impasse of no peace, which put them in confrontation with their followers and their leaders from the second row and tribesmen, and the expansion of the armistice requirements in providing services  As a de-facto authority, or in satisfying their fighters who fought with promises of booty and empowerment, which the group cannot provide, as this coincides with the critical situation in Iran.

A very important step

Abdel Nasser Qassem, an activist, confirmed that the step that Egypt took to reinforce its forces in the Red Sea, from the Suez Canal in the north to the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the south, is a very important political step at a sensitive time that cannot tolerate any delay.

He adds: Iranian ambitions have become worrisome and its movements controversial, and the most dangerous of all this is the emergence of militias that have high capabilities in destabilizing the security of maritime navigation, smuggling weapons and drugs to Yemen, smuggling Yemeni antiquities abroad, and attacking brothers.

He concluded by saying that the step that Egypt took is very welcome and admirable, and Egypt has the right to be a strong shield to protect Arab interests and preserve Arab national security, in particular Gulf security.
