Aden, NewsYemen:

A delegation from the Sultanate of Oman arrived in Sana'a, on Thursday, to persuade the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - to engage in efforts to revive the expired truce.

Political sources said that the delegation of the Omani Royal Office will meet with senior leaders of the Houthi militia, in conjunction with the continuation of UN and international moves to renew the armistice that ended in early October.

It added that the Omani delegation is expected to discuss with the Houthis ways to follow up the armistice and push the group towards political consultations.

The sources pointed out that active Western capitals in the Yemen file instructed the Sultanate of Oman to actively participate in forcing the Houthis to accept the renewal of the ceasefire brokered by the United Nations, as of April 2.

The Sultanate of Oman has influence over the Houthis, as the group's negotiating delegation has been residing in Muscat for a long time, and Muscat is working to employ these relations in order to play a role in the Yemen file.
