Aden, NewsYemen:

The former Secretary-General of the Yemeni Socialist Party and Yemen's ambassador to Britain, Dr. Yassin Saeed Noman, mocked the calls of the Islah Party, the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, for the secession of Hadramout Governorate.

Noman said, on his Facebook account: "Some believed that Hadramout is the card that can be played when everyone has to seriously research the developments of life as revealed by reality," in reference to the recent calls made by the Brotherhood to separate the province in southeastern Yemen.

He added, "They (the Brotherhood) preached the separation of Hadhramaut from the south and from Yemen.

They did not realize the fact that Hadramout was the foundation of the national state in the south upon independence, and it was the backbone on which that state was built at that time."

And he continued, "The unification of (the Qu'aiti sultanate with its capital in Mukalla and the Kathiri sultanate with its capital Seiyun) in one Hadramout was the main prelude to the unification of the south and the establishment of its state, and Hadramout with its old geopolitical status."

And he stressed that "it is not possible to establish a reference for any attempt to destroy the south, after Yemen was destroyed, which is heralded as one of the political disappointments that filled the agendas of some political forces," referring to the Brotherhood's Islah Party.

The Brotherhood resorted to adopting calls for the separation of Hadramout, and sowing seeds of discord in the governorate, after it failed to maintain its hegemony over the southeastern regions of the country.
